For over a decade, we have been running the Encounter Scheme for young adults across the Diocese of Chichester.
Encounter is a unique scheme that encompasses the breadth of the Church of England.
It will be a year where you will discover more about yourself, God, his heart for and calling on your life.
Along with being equipped to live out that call and putting it into practice by serving within the local Church and beyond.
The Encounter scheme began in the late 1990s as a gap year experience based in the local church for young adults.
It has evolved into a discipleship and leadership training scheme which is both rewarding and intensive. It is an opportunity for the local church to offer to serve young people in their discipleship and recieve from them an energy and enthusiasm for God's work.
The success of the scheme in local parishes is that, having had a young person involved, many parishes return year after year with the hope for more. For more information on how your church could be a placement click here.
The Encounter scheme is about 'equipping real people, with a real faith for the real world.'
The YES team undertakes and oversees all aspects of the equipping and training of the encounter particpant.
