Youth Funding
Funding
In no particular order, follow the links below for all the details (where we are aware of anything that the various charities or trusts are particularly keen to support, We have added that information below the link).
www.connexions360.org.uk/youthbank The YouthBank is for young people, by young people. So, the application needs to be written by young people – this is a great chance to get your young people excited and involved in a project where they take ownership of what they do, how they spend the money, who benefits etc. The Youth Bank is only (at the moment) available in East Sussex – sorry if you are West Sussex based!
www.awardsforall.org.uk/england/ Awards for All does exactly what it says on the tin, and they particularly like supporting small, community based activities.
www.southdownscvs.org.uk/funding/small-grants.php You need to be in the South Downs CVS area, but again, small grants available here for small groups that would struggle to find funding elsewhere.
www.sussexgiving.org.uk/home/index.php Sussex Community Foundation is excellent and brings together a variety of interested charities and people who want to support work that happens, predominantly, in Sussex.
www.cuf.org.uk/mustard-seed-grant-programme-2011 Mustard Seed grants of up to £5,000 to help churches and faith-based organisations carry out community projects. Projects should be tackling poverty and be based in the 10% of most deprived areas in England. Some projects working outside these areas may be funded if they are working with a disadvantaged group.
www.andyfanshawe.org a small trust that gives grants mainly to schools and youth groups wishing to carry out projects which will develop disadvantaged young people's existing interest in the great outdoors.
www.alecdicksontrust.org.uk supports individuals and groups of young people who are able to demonstrate that through volunteering or community service they can enhance the lives of others, particularly those most marginalised by society. Funding of up to £500 is available to help young people (applications required from people under the age of 30) to run a project in their local area anywhere in the UK that involves local volunteers.
www.soutercharitabletrust.org.uk The trust supports projects engaged in the relief of human suffering in the UK and overseas – especially, but not exclusively, those with a Christian emphasis (where spiritual welfare is a focus). They tend not to get involved with research or capital funding and are much more likely to provide a contribution towards the revenue costs of a project.
www.peterharrisonfoundation.org If you are planning a big sports related project next year, in preparation for the Olympics / build community spirit and engagement in the run up to the games, then this Foundation might be a good bet.
www.trusthousecharitablefoundation.org.uk The Trusthouse grants programme supports projects in the UK which address issues in rural communities and/or areas of urban deprivation. Within these two main headings, they are interested in helping established projects which work in the fields of community support; arts, education and heritage; disability and health care.

And, finally, this is genius!
http://www.rocketsciencelab.co.uk/what_we_do/toolkits/readiness_assessment_tool This link will take you to a page telling you about a FREE assessment tool you can download (click the button on the bottom of the page to download the tool). What does it help you assess? It helps you think about the future, planning for a project, making sure you have covered all the bases – it basically helps you assess what you need to do. If you have not tried to raise funds for a project or activity before, then this tool might help you think through some of what is involved (it is not just about getting hold of money – when fundraising you have to think about the viability of your project, who will benefit? how you will know that they have benefitted . . . often funders want to know how you will sustain your project and who else you are working with to make it happen). This tool will help you with some of that.
Hope this stuff helps you as you engage with children and young people in your church and community.
