Messy Church
Training and Equipping - Messy Church
Messy Church began in April 2004 in an Anglican church near Portsmouth. It is a church for families who find it hard to go to church on a Sunday, and a typical session would include arts and crafts, celebration and food. Messy Church meets once a month at a time most suitable for a local area, either after school or at the weekend.
The most significant aspects of Messy Church are:
- Welcoming whole families together
- Being a church not a club
- Eating together
'An Introduction to Messy Church'
If you are just enquiring about Messy Church the YES Dept. runs a 60 min workshop called 'An Introduction to Messy Church'. We can run this workshop at your church at no cost. This session explains how churches can use Messy Church as a tool to reach families that would not normally come to church. It gives an outline of the reasons for running a Messy Church and lots of practical help with the details. Please contact Irene Smale below for more information.
Messy Fiesta Training Day
A 'Messy Fiesta' is a hands-on training day where you can meet other people running or thinking of starting a Messy Church. There will be a chance to hear the Messy Church story, find out about Messy Churches locally and nationally, try out crafts, find out how to get started or how you might develop what you have already started, and ask plenty of questions.
